Dramatic Increase of the coverage of the Scottish Government backed IoT Scotland network across Stirling

Stirling Council in partnership with Scottish SME Boston Networks have dramatically increased the coverage of the Scottish Government backed IoT Scotland network across Stirling.

IoT Scotland is a LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) wireless sensor network and is the UK’s most advanced Internet of Things (IoT) network. It enables applications and services to collect data from devices and send that data without the need for cellular or WiFi connectivity.

We are now offering free access to this network to help companies or individuals respond to challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

This offer gives developers, adopters, and end users the opportunity to trial or deploy potential solutions to wide range of challenges.

A series of articles has been produced, highlighting areas where the network is being used:

1.    Footfall monitoring

2.    Monitoring indoor living environments for individuals who are shielding, self-isolating, or recovering from COVID-19 at home

3.    A Universal Contact Tracing solution which does not rely on smartphones.

4.    Preparing Work and Public Spaces for Safe and Efficient De-escalation.

5.    Helping to prevent dangerous water system conditions in buildings that are closed or operating at reduced occupancy.
