Venachar Lochside in Callander have been named Scotland’s Best Informal Eating Experience by the Scottish Thistle Awards 2015/16.
Recognised as Scotland’s 'tourism industry Oscars,' the national finals were hosted by Fred MacAulay at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on March 18th 2016.
The Best Informal Eating Experience category focused on businesses that deliver quality food and drink while promoting local Scottish produce – all delivered in a relaxed, informal environment.
Owners Andrew Barrowcliffe, Meghan Haste and Carolyn Barrowcliffe said: "We are absolutely delighted to win Best Informal Eating Experience 2015/2016 at the Scottish Thistle Awards. It is a fantastic accolade and an amazing conclusion to the Visit Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink. The award is truly an accurate reflection of what we strive to achieve at Venachar Lochside every single day."
Andrew and Carolyn have managed Venachar Lochside since September 2011 with Meghan joining the management team in May 2013. The restaurant and venue, which is located on the northern shore of Loch Venachar in the Trossachs, has gone from strength to strength and their plans for the coming year include showcasing local designers and artists as part of the Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design 2016, the introduction of a vintage festival and looking further afield to grow our business.
